Lucas Apostoleris is a drummer and composer currently residing in Miami, FL.  In addition to writing music for his own ensemble, Lucas has recently written arrangements for the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra in Ft. Myers, FL, and for the prestigious Airmen of Note Air Force big band.  He graduated from the Frost School of Music in 2017 with his master's degree from their Studio Jazz Writing program.  In May, Lucas recorded his first album of original music with his quintet, and it will be released next year. 

 

 

Lucas has been a recipient of the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer awards three times, in 2008, 2009, and 2018, and received an honorable mention in 2017.  He was also the recipient of Best Original Composition in the graduate division of the 40th Annual Downbeat Student Awards in 2017.  Previously, in 2013, Lucas was one of five composers nationwide to be featured in the 2014 Jazz Educators' Network Student Composition Showcase in Dallas, TX.
